This is constantly a problem with government.
Wether they processed it by mistake or not, it shouldn't have be written originally as a citation. Maybe the F&G worker had to report it, but not as a citation. How about the Lemonaide stand thread. Or todays paper had a bit where a number of cities have laws against the droopy pants style the kids are wearing. IMHO they look stupid (and if they knew where/why the style originated they'd freak), but it's not governments place to regulate. Steriods in Baseball SAME, it's a business, they owners should decide if they will allow steriods or not. AND make it know to the public, then it's up to the players to decide if THEY want to risk it. Chicago banned foi gras, then repealed the law, after the nation laughed. How many more stupid laws are there ? |

Clerical error? Shouldn't they have noticed it when they read it?

Please read the entire article.
"Unfortunately, the citation was processed unintentionally despite our office's request to cancel the ticket." |
Yeah, it's easy to say that after about 200'000 phone calls. Like it's the first time this sort of thing has happened. As if tax collectors don't collect taxes or something. She showed up with a state trooper for gods sake...

As for the question posed in the original post, no, I don't think that an agent of the Fish and Wildlife service has many things better to do than to make sure people aren't capturing and keeping protected species.
