It'll be interesting to hear what the principals have to say to congress next week. There might be an ethical issue involved, but I don't foresee this being the scandal that many would like it to be.

This close to 2012? Throw away your "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" DVD. This will be whipped up into the largest froth humanly possible. The hysteria fomented by the Grand Old Party will be a sight to behold.

This SHOULD be a bipartisan issue. What American should be happy at wasting ONE HALF BILLION DOLLARS, especially with the situation surrounded in suspicion?

No telling how many like this are out there, just on a lessor scale.

First group that needs to go is the DOE in my opinion.

You therefore predict an unbiased objective analysis and spin-free presentation of the facts to the American public?

Good point! That is indeed asking a little much from our mainstream media.

So a government insured loan went bad. So what?

The solyndra loan to a company hoping to provide a reasonable alternative to petroleum. The petroleum companies enjoy some pretty sweet handouts courtesy of our government, I understand and they are making billions.

I am also a lot more upset about all the sweet, no competitive bids, cost plus contracts that went to Haliburton in the middle east wars. (Cheney's company).

I always was amazed at the mainstream medias reporting of the Halliburton issues. Dick Cheney left Halliburton on unfriendly terms before all these contracts ended up at Halliburtons steps. Also Halliburton was the only company in a position to deliver on most of the various contracts.

The mainstream media framed it up to get even a savvy guy like you, Tom, to believe it.

I guess you are right. No biggie. Even when you consider the warning signs it isn't too bad an idea. Maybe, this is a sign that they can't even do their own jobs and should stick to getting their job done instead of meddling where they have no business or a clue about what is going on.

Only one difference in that. Petroleum companies are generating revenue and employing people. Solyndra, well.......

By "Cheney's company", are we assuming he was actively running that company WHILE BEING THE VP or are you saying that by having any association with it in the past, he is automatically suspect?

Why is the gov involved in insuring private corporations? The gov can't even balance a budget for god's sake.
