It is equally bad when either party does it. Since I favor democrats over republicans, I don't enjoy pointing out when the democrats do stupid things. I am also more anti-GOP than I am pro-democrat. We need the democrats to do well because the GOP has become such a malevolent, anti-American force. None of that excuses bad behavior by democrats. That's the part you made up.

As a member of the GOP, I know I cannot win your support so why try? As a DEM, I know I can never lose your support so why bother?

Only because there is no incentive to do better. Explain the incentive when people like Honus will never support the GOP and will support the DEM party. They know they have his vote and he won't budge so what else is there? They cannot count on a vote from a GOP supporter no matter what they do so what is the point?

Will a GOP fan ever support a DEM party member? Not likely. Why bother. Will a DEM fan ever support a GOP member? Not likely. Why bother. It does sort of sound like that, except you may recall that I said that I favor democrats over republicans. I would not have said that about a race or religion. So, the comparison is not apt, or at least I hope it isn't.

And, BTW, the line, "I have friends who are black, gay, muslim, etc." is intended to deflect charges of prejudice against those groups. I freely admit my prejudice against republicans. If a republican proves his or her bona fides, then I am OK with them - Frank Wolf, John Warner, and a few local republicans come to mind - but if I hear a politician speak and all I know is that he or she has an "R" after his name, I am deeply skeptical, more so than with politicians who don't have an "R" after their names..

Nothing wrong with liking one side or the other. However, the fact is you stated you probably would let a DEM skate on a mistake while hounding a REP to the ground shows as much inconsistency as you keep pointing out in the GOP member of the committee, doesn't it? He has as much of a political axe to grind as do you. So why is it bad for him and not you? Inconsistency much?

According to what I've read, about 2/3rds of the backing was from venture capitalists.

Do you know what their tech angle was and why it appeared promising? A lot of this stuff is in the neophyte stage. A number of companies failed badly some years back in producing reliable lithium batteries. Oddly enough, some sort of process was eventually arrived at that worked.
