What's Wrong With This Picture?
http://community.webshots.com/storag...hKjLqap_ph.jpg
http://community.webshots.com/storag...mRisgIp_ph.jpg If my childhood memory serves me correctly, this stuff is called "snow". But that can't be, can it? I live just 50 miles north of the Golden Gate, at 167' above sea level. This is supposed to be "sunny California"... |
The Lower Half
Not only are we expecting snow down to the 1500' level in the LA area, we had a small 4.2 about 10:00 pm. No more "shake and bake", this blows the theory of quakes only happenning when it's warm and dry...
 --Craig |
Those pics are broken, but I DID hear that it snowed North of SF yesterday. We're just spreading the wealth here :)

We didn't get much snow. Maybe three or four inches, but it had people making snowmen, throwing snowballs, and skidding on black ice. One local school district here in Sonoma County was so goofy from seeing the white stuff, they called a "snow day" and closed all of the schools... After the snow started to melt, we got freezing rain that quickly turned to hail and covered everything. The hail is still caught in the area of where my windshield wipers are on the Mercedes, and have frozen into a lump that has now immobilized the wipers. Here's a shot looking towards SF from the Marin headlands: http://sfgate.com/chronicle/pictures.../tam-snow1.jpg |
I feel your pain...
I spent the day working between 1,200 feet (Town) and 5,000 (mountains on way to desert) down to nearly sea level.
It was raining when I left town, snowing hard at the 2,500 foot mark, really hard at almost 5,000 and then sunny when I got to the desert. After an hour or so, temps dropped rapidly and we got hammered by a snowstorm that was raging from the desert, through 5,000 and all the way down to town. Had a slight accumulation building on the 4.5 between the office and the house. Shoot, I got snowed on more today, than I did the two weeks I spent in the Great not-so White North. |

Twenty Years Later.....
It's happening again ! .
Snow down to 500' level in some parts of California . Of course, the wipers quit on my '59 just when I wanted to relive my youth the drive it in the endless rain . |
wow, I'd forgotten about longston. His last post was 10 years ago. Used to provide some good conversation on here.
That snow is going to help the water situation out some. 83dF here today. |
I don’t know if I’m getting old or if it’s just cold as hell outside. Maybe the humidity and wind are adding to it.
I check the weather app and it says 45, and I’m thinking dang, it feels colder than that. |
The Weather
It's only 35* F here, the rain has stopped a while so I took my old VW Bug for a drive in shirt sleeves .
I find the heater adequate . |
