Herman Cain?

Okay, what do those of you who pay attention to politics think of Herman Cain? I know virtually nothing about him except what I've read in the last ten minutes, but that sounded pretty good. I am quite troubled by the fact that he seems to have been courting Tea Party folks, successfully.

OTOH, he seems to have actually accomplished a lot in his life. He appears to be very intelligent, street smart, not just book smart. He has experience within the Federal Reserve, served in the military, is tech savvy, has a lot of business experience, both as an employee and a business owner, and is apparently a good public speaker.

Who knows anything about him, and what is your impression of him?

Out of all the Repos, I like him the best. The 9-9-9 tax plan sounds pretty good too, though I was previously against having an income tax and a national sales tax together. He wants it to be a transition going towards a pure consumption tax. I think he has a way of bringing together the extreme ideologies that exist today.

I'm a real fan! He has pulled himself up by his boot straps.

I have a personal reason for liking him though. My very best friend from the Army looks exactly like him, sounds exactly like him and thinks very much like him. Because of this it's hard to look at Herman Cain without having good thoughts.

Wouldn't it be great to have someone in the Whitehouse with REAL executive experience?

He has turned around every failing group that he's ever taken charge of. My favorite is that he took over a huge project for Proctor & Gamble that involved doing a major, corporate wide IT system conversion project. Most of us have been effected by such projects in our careers and can understand what a pitfall they can turn into. He took over the project when it was behind schedule and on a track that would bring it in over budget. He completed the project AHEAD of schedule and UNDER budget.

Cain is a very impressive man who seems to have no idea about how he would run the country.

A cornerstone of his 9-9-9 plan would be a provision saying that the 9% rates couldn't be changed without a 2/3 vote in the Senate. He apparently formulated his plan before anyone told him that there is no way his bill could bind future Congresses.

And what's the deal with 9-9-9? Is it just by coincidence that 9% is the optimum tax rate, regardless of what is being taxed?

Cain likes his gimmicks. A while ago he suggested that he would veto any bill longer than 3 pages. That was a gimmick. So is 9-9-9.

I'm surprised that someone with Cain's incredibly successful track record in business would turn out to be such a gimmicky candidate.

Just another joke, liar, and thief. When Ron Paul is running, there's no reason to waste energy with the talking heads.

You care to back up that smear with anything?

JollyRoger 10-04-2011 11:51 AM

Yeah, a pizza guy for prez. Just think of all the foreign policy experience he has, like "pepperoni" fer instance. And of course, he has big time chops with "Canadian Bacon".

What was the name of that bank he worked for again?

Oh, and his platform focuses on a policy of new taxation...

And you know what, you never address any serious point I bring up, why the sudden attention? Because like all the other jokers on here, you only care about posturing and pageantry?

I think he's gotten a little too close to Obama with the "Hawaiian" pizza thing.

To begin with he's MUCH more than a Pizza guy. Secondly, he has INFINITELY more experience in EVERYTHING as compared to BO at the time he took office.

Only one problem for the detractors - America LOVES pizza!

Thanks! I've been dieing for the chance to use this. For awhile, Jenine Garafalo and her cronies labeled anyone that didn't agree with BO's policies as a racist. You just happen to be the one that I could throw it back on.

I didn't mean anything by it, you just happen to be the first one that pointedly disagreed with Herman's policies.
