Civilian Marksmanship Program
Anyone else here a fan? Anyone else hoping to snag one of the 1903A3's that just became available? I am guessing my mail order is one of thousands that'll miss out, but I had to roll the dice. This is the last of the Springfields according to the CMP folks.
I have a couple of CMP Garands, and have purchased some bayonets from them as well. A fine program! |

It's one of those things I've wanted to do over the years, but never got around to it. I would be more interested in a Garand. If they did it for an M14 I'd have already done it years ago. In the Army I qualified expert with an M14, but my eyes are much older now. I don't know just how I could qualify today. |

Spray and pray works better with an M16. The recoil of the M14 made it a real handful when shooting full auto. When we qualified, we NEVER shot in full auto. We qualified with pop up human silouhette targets. They were as far out as 350 Meters. I could pop those out at 350 Meters at will, of course my eyes were MUCH younger. Don't try hitting a 350 Meter pop up target with an M16. |

My Dad used to fire a 16" rifle off the deck of a ship.

I want a garand. I really wish I had the money to blow
|
Sadly I have curtailed my collecting for a bit since I need to save money for other things.
Right now I have a big hard on for the new Scar 17 with an ACOG stuck on top and a can screwed on the barrel. I have been playing around with the old wood for awhile, I'm feeling something stupid modern, and I want to round out my FN collection. FN is quickly becoming my favorite manufacture, other than SIG. |
A friend of mine just bought an M4...trying to convince him to take me out shooting. I've only shot rifles and shotguns thus far
