I only get my quotes from the highest authority on all things protest.

Oswald was a marine, so was Charles Whitman.....:)

Interesting. The news I've been watching hasn't mentioned anything about the views or goals of OWS. Those two guys sound fairly reasonable.

HuskyMan 10-11-2011 06:13 PM

It seems to be apparent that there are many different views and opinions represented by the OWS protestors. The first amendment to the U.S. Constitution states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Protests are as old as history itself, while I may not agree with everything the OWS crowd is protesting, I have to support their right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Without activism, the place is occupied by the non-caring and the uninvolved.

But are they petitioning the government for anything? By all accounts, they have no singularity of purpose, no leadership to clarify specific demands and if they are petitioning government...why occupy Wall Street and not the National Mall?

If you go by the 30 second nightly news account of their demands you would get that impression. I encourage you to take a look at their forum and some of the more detailed written news accounts. You might find what you're looking for.

This is correct, it appears they are unorganized in purpose and intent which means the public is confused as to what exactly they want. Better organization and a written mission statement would have been a smarter move, however I still support their right to assemble and to air their concerns.

thanks for posting the link, it has a lot of good information regarding the OWS movement. as usual, the police are heavy handed with the protestors. Violence against the people, yet again.

Absolutely! Assemble and air away. We have a few in the Marietta/Kennesaw area and it is interesting to watch.

Mighty noble of you there chief. I reckon they're all scum, eh?

There's something weird in this land when people go into lifelong debt pursuing an education that often as not they find isn't all it's cracked up to be after it's too late. Meanwhile an elite lending class stays fat and happy off the proceeds of just about the least adjustable loans in the land.

BTW, did you watch the video?

Weren't they out there for a few weeks before they did an online poll to find out WHY they were there?
