The farmers must not be offering enough. There are plenty of non-illegals in Georgia who will do that work if the money's there.

I have to agree with Chas and disagree with you. Problem is they would rather sit on their ass and get public assistance than work even if it is for a few bucks. Now, if the safety net were removed and the option is to starve or work, many will work.

When I lived in Georgia I busted my butt doing warehouse work for $6.14 an hour the summer between high school and college. The summer before that I worked fifty hour weeks putting hours on prototype lawnmowers for five bucks an hour. I wasn't by myself on these jobs.

"Occupy Wall Street" protests go global - CBS News

Quote:
(CBS/AP) NEW YORK -- Americans protesting corporate greed and inequality faced down authorities in parks and plazas across the country ahead of what organizers describe as 24 hours of public action planned for Saturday in cities around the world.

Groups spanning the globe from Asia to Europe — and in every U.S. state — announced demonstrations and other actions.

The rapidly growing movement could link a protest that started in New York's financial district together with longer-standing anti-austerity demonstrations that have raged across Europe amid a roiling economic crisis.

Fox news
'Occupy Wall Street' -- It's Not What They're For, But What They're Against | Fox News

Quote:
Critics of the growing Occupy Wall Street movement complain that the protesters don’t have a policy agenda and, therefore, don’t stand for anything. They're wrong. The key isn’t what protesters are for but rather what they’re against -- the gaping inequality that has poisoned our economy, our politics and our nation.

In America today, 400 people have more wealth than the bottom 150 million combined. That’s not because 150 million Americans are pathetically lazy or even unlucky. In fact, Americans have been working harder than ever -- productivity has risen in the last several decades. Big business profits and CEO bonuses have also gone up. Worker salaries, however, have declined.

Can't blame Limbaugh for it; they are my words, and my thoughts.

So who puts all the words in your mouth?

Nice photo gallery of the protests: Occupy Wall Street protests continue - The Washington Post

In many of the pictures it looks like the protesters are daring the police to arrest them while also going out of their way to make no physical threats toward the police. One of the pictures has a guy tackling a policeman. It's hard to tell what's going on from a still picture, but that sure looks like an intentional tackle to me. That guy's probably in trouble with the police and his fellow demonstrators by now. What a knucklehead.

Pretty exciting stuff. I wonder what will come of it.

Not only that, but a many folks think that some work is beneath them.

My own feeling of personal responsibility is what got me up a 3:30 every morning for 10 years to deliver papers 7 days a week, 365 days a year (and unlike the Mail Carriers who have Sundays and holidays off, we really did do it regardless of rain, sleet, snow or ice) in addition to my FT job. As inept as the management and ownership of the paper was, I did what I had to do to pay my bills since we started having kids and my wife and I wanted her to be able to stay at home. It sucked and I can't say that I wasn't a bit embarrassed when I would come across people I knew while out being a "paper boy." But some people will do what they have to do, some won't.

Including Christmas tips, I made over $20K/year delivering papers to 300 customers. If I didn't have to be at my FT job at 7am, I could have done more. There were some guys and some couples who would deliver 600-800. For the 10 years I was there, the turnover was unbelievable and they were always looking for carriers (still are). A flood of new ones would show up in Sep-Oct, many wouldn't make it through the week and many would work through Thanksgiving and Christmas, get their tips and disappear Jan 1. Of the 75 carrier routes at my depot, there were only 7 of us that had been with it over two years. The rest came and went. Maybe they didn't need the money any more, I doubt it though.

I guess some would say we seven were a bunch of "tools." I saw us as the ones doing whatever we needed to do to get by.

.

I did the same job when I was 8 or 9 years old. I did it on a bicycle, weather permitting, and on foot when the weather was bad.

Funny thing is I never ridiculed the mailman because he had sunday and holidays off.

Even at that young of an age I knew the advantage of being in a UNION.

My advise for the youth ,now and tommorrow, would be dont borrow ,but that would not be reality of getting started in todays world . Someway somehow everyone owes to a financial institiution and the growth of their power over the debtor grows over time is a reality .If you borrow it you owe it.
The industry now pulls strings in the White House to change laws and has for a very long time but its now at a level never seen before. The real story behind the scenes would be how much power these banks have and what are their plans with this power for us as a country. We will now see if Democracy or Capitalism wins this round,my guess nothing will be done ,it shows a sign of weakness by the more powerful foe.It will be interesting to see what the campaigning parties will have on their monitors to reverbirate out to audiences during these up coming elections."My friends ,I am with you ,and in these hard times its hard to spend that last dollar on interest owed ,,,,,but we will get thru this,,,---- together."
COMPLETE SILENCE
