As the above posters have noted it is from French, the meaning in English is:
eau de toilette is a more watered down version of eau de parfume.

Eau de toilette refers to a strength of perfume:
From strongest to weakest the perfume strengths are:

Parfum - usually only sold in tiny bottles and is very expensive
Eau de Parfum - quite concentrated
Eau de Toilette - less concentrated than eau de parfum (maybe 10% to 20% fragrance in 80%-90% ethanol) - the most common form of perfume or cologne (men's perfume)
Eau de Cologne - the weakest of the 4 strengths

So you don't have to worry about your restroom :D

I'm having a hard time believeing he's not pulling our collective legs with the OP. And btw, an old g/f gave me a set of that (along with the CK after-shave and deodorant). Nice stuff. She's long gone years ago, but I continue to use the product.;)

Speaking of strength Ben, don't put that on like an after shave. They'll know your coming before you pass through the door. It's atomized for a reason.;):)
And if a woman gave it to you as a gift, she has good taste, imo. At least in cologne.:D

Many perfumes and colognes contain urea.

Toilet(toilette) means two different things in French and English

English - Toilet - Porcelain fixture that flushes
French - Toilette - Room that includes a washbasin (sink), toilet, etc.

EdT (Eau de Toilette) refers to perfumed water (eau) that is used in the toilette. So it means something you could sit on the sink counter in front of a mirror, not necessarily something that sits on top of the commode (or comes from it!)

On a related note, in most French-speaking countries, they refer to the actual toilet fixture as a WC (water closet). So your room could have a toilette (room for getting dressed, washing up, etc.) and a WC right beside it or inside it.

The WC is almost always a separate room. It's like a tiny closet with a toilet in it. Kind of like our public bathroom stalls (approximately that size) but it's a separate room with a full door.
