Ron Paul's ideas to reduce deficit

Quote:
eliminate five Cabinet departments
This is a good start. You may not like the idea of getting rid of the student loan program but he is accurate in thinking it has contributed in increased cost.

Ron Paul

Another give-away with no negative feedback loop. What are the chances of cost-containment when there is no incentive FOR cost containment?

As a parent I'm pretty sure the cost of a college education has me by the balls.

What gets me riled about the student loan programs is the way the universities automatically hook incoming students up with them. It should be hard to get a student loan. They should go to deserving students who have a prayer of being able to service the debt when they get out of school.

It does unless your kids are stellar students. Mine were all able to earn scholarships and grants to pay their way through. They had no choice. They're teacher's kids, poor things.

Out of curiosity I looked up which five departments he wants gone:

Energy
Housing and Urban Development
Commerce
Interior
Education

Google can read Ron Paul's thoughts? Now it all makes sense

x2

My oldest son is a good example. He was on some kind of fully paid program because of his disability ADHD. He has now gone for three years and I think has a couple years semisters left to finish 4 yrs. He finally flunked out last semester (he typically made D's and C's. He got some kind of college loan and pissed it away. Now he sits at the ex's house and plays video games and surfs the internet all day at 23 yrs old. Better her house than mine . This is a good example of pissing it away. He has no job and will probably be years paying it back if he does. Wonder how it effects his credit rating? Debt = slavery in my opinion.

Anyway I don't see where anything negative will come in getting rid of the cabinets that he wants to get rid of.

Collage got so expensive because they hand out $100k student loans like candy. If student loans were harder to get schools would reduce the cost of enrollment.

$30k or more per year is BS the colleges are racking it in. Yale has so much cash they might as well burn it for heat in the winter.

Yeah, that's a nice start. I'd love to see the real list of cuts!
People just love to be conned, though. Probably for the best. Ron would never be allowed to win. Too many stand to lose far too much.

I just read somewhere student loan debt will reach $1 trillion this year?!?!?

Ron Paul

The key words in Jim's above statement? "This is a good start"
