Ever been pepper sprayed? I can assure you it's quite unpleasant.

I caught a whiff of it. Can't say I enjoyed it. Still, they knew what was coming when they decided to block pathways. So I don't GAS. You want, you got. As I said, keep it to public property and don't block and I don't care what you are, I will support it. Don't go disrupting someone else and you can carry the signs all you want.

What is it you would suggest we do when the idiots block abortion clinics? Violins to get them to leave?

Were the kids stopping anyone from stepping over them or going around them? They were sitting on a walkway, not blocking the doorway to a facility.

Neither were we unable to go around to the back way when they decided to lie in the way but apparently, they decided to change their mind when I walked towards them with spiked running shoes. Sorry, your protest should not disrupt others. If I don't like you, should I force you to go about your business in some other way? I think not.

Sometimes, inconveniences have to (and should) be endured as the price of living in a free society. Why did you ever leave Singapore?

Just like the inconvenience of being pepper sprayed while chilling in the walkway. I'd wager they were asked to leave, and being the hip, young kids they are, decided it was within their rights to stay. Well, when you don't listen to the guy with the pepper spray, guess what happens.

And the PIG with the pepper spray gets all but fired, along with the garbage who gave the order. Hope they stay unemployed and we read about them sucking a steel lollipop 2 years down the line after they end up broke and lose their homes.

Fortunately, surveillance has been democratized and public police abuse tends to go viral.

No it should not. Your freedom should not interfere with mine. Your right to wave your fist around stops at my nose, as they say. In your scenario, you would say that I should move my nose to give you freedom to wave your fist as you wish.

That was a different issue and there are a myriad of reasons. In that case, the govt didn't allow you to go against them whether you were disrupting someone or not.

I think you are painting university police with a pretty huge brush there. Apparently the person at the head of that university police department created an atmosphere where this overly enthusiastic and sadistic fellow felt empowered to do what he did. I did not see any other police stopping him.

I would be shocked if this were to happen at Purdue University as an example.

Hmmm..... Private property. Cop doing as he's told. Kids on the ground NOT doing what they're told. No deadly force.

No outrage here!

engatwork 11-22-2011 07:48 AM

here you go

Be thankful you live in a country that lets this type stuff get out on the internet and the only thing you are sprayed with is PS. We fight for other countries ppls freedom to allow ppl to demonstrate without getting sprayed with the AK-47.

Freedom worth fighting for:).

Jim,

Thank you VERY much for this Link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is an EXCELLENT explanation putting things in perspective.

I think it's the best You Tube video that I've ever seen.

If the protestors were given an order to disperse and not continue blocking the public walk with their sit in, then there was a legal right to use means to disperse them. pepper spray is NOT going to kill anybody, or even hurt them for very long.

civil disobedience is a narrow path to walk, and you must be prepared to take your lumps to make your point. As John Melancamp wrote "I fight authority and authority always wins"

It's not as bad as being clubbed.... I have been pepper sprayed, tear gassed and tazed. None of them are going to hurt you for very long: and that's the point of NON LETHAL dispersants and crowd control methods. Every one of those protestors went home that night, showered and then met with their friends who told them how brave they were for standing up to the man, no one was in the hospital with broken bones or brain injuries like some would have been if the cops had used clubs.

prostest is allowable until it breaks the law, then we cannot be ruled by the tyranny of the minority...

What "legal right" is that? Is it written down anywhere?
