280 SL, only $33,000.00! :) CL ad

Not often I post. But is this a practical price on a 1970 280 SL? I know little of them, and I know some can fetch a lot. But I think this one had been hit outta the park!

1970 Mercedes Benz 280 SL

And if the price is serious. No milage? No pics?

They can be pretty pricey. Low miles, mint condition, sure, a nice 280SL could easily bring that much. But giving the selling method, I'd call it a rip. Most cars worth that are going to offered maybe over ebay, but more likely by speciality dealers. Craig's list? Must be some sort of joke.

There are prices in the Mercedes Benz Club of America magazine, The Star, classified section (free for members) that always give me a chuckle.

Yeah, but a vintage 280SL has become a status symbol for the mega rich, they all want one parked out in the driveway by the manse. I've seen some of them sell in the 27k range if they were killer nice. I would not be surprised to see them follow the Camaros and Vettes to stratosphere land over the next few years.

Aren't the older SL's prone to severe rust on the underneath?

So true; they are becoming a status symbol of the older hipsters. In Venice beach you see a lot hot chicks driving them.

I've seen a few 280SLs of that vintage go for around that price and much higher so it is possible.

(Think 33k is bad, try some of these )
