Got a "fix it" ticket in San Francisco.....

So I'm up in San Francisco from SoCal. Street park my car, do a museum tour, come out and I get a $105 ticket for not having a front license plate on. The San Francisco Police Officer who gave me the ticket wrote on the note section "Fix-It".

So my question to San Fran, NorCal or any Cali folks who knows this question.... I assume I can put on my front plates and have the ticket reversed correct? But how do I show them proof that I fixed the problem if I live down south and will not be able to come back to prove it was fixed?

Thanks in advanced for your answers.

Any California LEO can sign off on it.

But I don't think you're off the hook for the Buck-O-Five.

Welcome to NorCal.

If I'm not off the hook, then I'll just pay for it and not even bother to have a law enforcement officer sign off on it.

if you're required by the Empire of California to have a front plate, then why was yours missing?

Typical end of the month ticket. Cop needs xx# of tickets to make his "quota" and thus will write up anything he can to meet the minimum required.

Try NYC, they upped the quota on the Parking cops in Manhattan by 250 a month. As an example of "vigirous enforcement" I saw a Traffic cop write up a guy while he was walking to the Mini Meter to pay/get a Parking receipt!

Tint, loud pipes, lowered suspension, even having something on the back window shelf can get you a ticket now.

I guess that is how Bloomie will pay for OWS.

My car never came with a front plate bracket when new. I just couldn't get myself to punch holes into the bumper cover. Now it's been like over 5 years and I've been driving around without a front plate up and down California without any warning or ticket until yesterday.

My car has been in San Fran several times. This is the first time I personally got a parking ticket or something in like that in any car in 15 years.

Thanks for the link. I'll look through it.

I have not lived in CA for quite some time but I am pretty sure that is not how you play the game. I think you have to get the fuzz to sign off on the ticket stating that it is fixed and then send in the signed ticket with your $105 to the city. I am pretty sure this is not a either/or situation.

Read the instructions on the ticket.

I am not sure what kind of car you have but I will bet pennies to dollars that the dealer will sell a bracket for the plate. Even a Corvette has a place to put a front license. I am pretty sure that a manufacture is not going to be so stupid as to sell a car that does not meet all local ordinances. CA/US is not the only State/Country that requires plates on the front of the car. Most European countries require them as well as several Asian countries.

If I remember correctly, the plate has to be affixed to the front. So, stick it in the windshield. A lot of people do. I went to the CHP office for my window tint(showed up with no front plate, BTW) got signed off and went about doing whatever his majesty allowed. Wait for the notice, should have more details.

Don't knock it till you try it. Cost of living is high there for a reason. I grew up in West LA. The weather is great year around. We lived 30 min from the beach. 2 hrs from the mountains. 3 hours from the desert. There are tons of parks and museums.

I was born in S Florida. My family moved when I was 13. Given the choice between FL and CA, CA would win hands down. I cannot afford it so I'll stay where I am.

Where in CA did you live?

BTW - if ever you could afford a place in CA, it would be now. Low prices + low interest rates = win! Buy one, rent it out, then use it if/when you find a job and decide to move.

Yeah, CA is a beautiful place, but it's also a bit of a police state with crappy laws. And unlike in NYC, they're consistently harsh in enforcement -- i.e. L.A. Pig Department will actually cite you for jaywalking.

My wife's family is out here in TX so she would like to stay, at least for the time being. I do miss CA though. So much to do and so much of it is out doors. There are about 5 nice days a year in TX the rest of it sucks. OK so there are a few more nice days but nothing like the LA/SAN area.
