US GP in Austin Texas Promises to Pay F1 Fee
Do They Have the Money?
"It's all very simple -- they don't have the money," Ecclestone told The Associated Press on Thursday. "We don't have a contract. If they want to come back to us, if it's not signed before the end of next week, I suppose it won't be on the calendar next year." Response from Organizers Circuit of the Americas spokesman Jeff Hahn said Thursday a check for the sanctioning fee was ready but wouldn't be sent until organizers receive a signed contract from F1. Hahn wouldn't disclose the amount of the fee. Deal Not Yet Done Organisers of a planned U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, have told Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone that they will pay a sanctioning fee for next year's race if he revises an "unrealistic and unfeasible" contract. The 81-year-old Briton responded Thursday by casting further doubt on the event going ahead. Ecclestone has already made clear that he has lost patience and last week gave the city's Circuit of the Americas a deadline of this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix to pay the required fees and sign a contract. |

Ecclestone really is a POS who only is interested in his pockets without any love for the business he's created and what it means to people. It's odd.

US GP Organizers Have Till Wednesday
The F1 boss said the race in Austin would be canceled if no deal was reached by next Wednesday. Two weeks ago at the Abu Dhabi GP, he said the deadline was Sunday. The race in Texas would be in November and mark the return of F1 to the U.S. after a five-year absence. Indianapolis was the last host in 2007. Previously, Phoenix was host from 1989-91, while Watkins Glen in upstate New York staged the race from 1961-80. |

Original 10 Year Deal Declared Void, Deadline Tomorrow to Reach New 2012 Deal
Bernie doesn't think much of the US race, and apparently not very keen on many of them in Europe. Five Races May Continue in Europe South Africa and Mexico may be back in the loop. |

Is this sort of think common in F1 circles?
Baltimore's F1 is in default on $millions. I bet the guy who headed it up got his cut.
