She was convicted for pre-marital sexual relations, adultery. Her original sentence of two years was increased to 12 after she appealed the original verdict. Her attacker was her cousin's husband.

And these are the people we are supposedly trying to help.

I spent seven months in Afghanistan once. I concluded that:

1. The people there are really seriously messed up and have been for hundreds if not thousands of years.

2. They like being seriously messed up and have no desire to change.

3. There is no compelling reason why the United States or any other country should make the massive effort it would take to change the Afghan people.

I saw that. I cannot believe we are giving those SOB's aid. I figure if we are going to give a country aid they at least ought to have a minimum standard of human rights. I am pretty sure putting a rape victim in prison would fall short of those standards.

Why? If I give you aid, why do I care how you treat your citizens? I give you aid because it benefits me. As long as it does, you can grind them all up for dog food for all I care. It is NONE OF MY BUSINESS.

Lets get down to the brass tacks. I am giving you money or doing things for you for one simple reason. It benefits ME. Your internal affairs are your internal affairs. I am buying your cooperation and not your good behavior. Had you wanted my good behavior, you should have stipulated it IN THE BEGINNING as a condition of the aid. That you didn't isn't my problem. Don't come crying about it later.

Fair enough. State it UP FRONT and not after the fact. Write out a contract. I lend you $100, you pay back $120 and not give you the $100 and later on ask for interest, etc, etc. If you want to impose rules, tell them before money changes hands. If they disagree, we walk. NOT after the fact.

So? That is their culture so what makes your culture superior to their's?

The acts condone by theri culture lead directly to the harming of other people. My culture does not condone the deliberate harming of innocent people.
Are you trying to argue that a culture that condones raping little boys and women is equivalent. Or, are you just doing your usual argue anything just for the heck of it BS.

In your opinion. Not their's. My house, my rules.

I am arguing that it is NOT our business how some country treat's their citizens any more than it is Europe's business how we treat prisoners extradited back here. I don't approve them telling me I have to NOT execute them as a condition of extradition even if they are found guilty. If it were up to me, I'd leave them right there and let them do as they please in the host country.
