Thumbs down Need help with Samsung Galaxy Tab (Android OS)

I just received Galaxy Tab 7" model as a present from back home in Scotland. It is great little toy, however there is an application called PULSE and drives me crazy. It is installed by default and keep updating itself all the time. I've looked around some Android forums but looks like I need to root my tab to be able to get rid of this app.
The tab is great because you can put sim card and it works like a phone and I can use my data and surf the net or use it as SatNav plus many other things. So I am not happy if this app keep using my data to give me useless news streams.
Any help from someone would be greatly appreciated.

Short of rooting it you could probably turn off its notifications I would think.
