Hangover: FDA Approves Blowfish

Not Hootie, but Alka-Seltzer's Combo of Aspirin, Caffiene and Antacid

A hangover is a collection of symptoms that emerge when alcohol’s intoxicating effects start to wear off. Research on hangover treatments is scarce, but alcohol is thought to trigger an inflammatory response – a process blocked by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin. The inflammatory response is similar to the body’s defense against flu, and is linked to lethargy – an energy lull boosted by caffeine. Finally, the chemicals produced by the body to break alcohol down are hard on the stomach – collateral damage tempered by an antacid.

On a more basic level:

Water - replacement of the dehydrating effect of alcohol.
NSAID pain reliever - Aspirin or ibuprofen . . . not acetamenophen
Coffee, taken with the pain reliever

A researcher suggests that the timing of the pain relievers depends on how much you drank. Taking them right away works if you've only had a little to drink . . . but if you've consumed more, then wait (4 -6 hours) since you want to match the time of the maxiumum pain relief with the acetate which causes the headache from the alcohol in your system

LOL sounds like common knowledge to me. Drink a glass or two of water before laying down for the night and usually you're fine in the morning. Learned that one the hard way.

I recommend a blow***. If that doesn't fix it, you are dead anyways.

Drink water before you pass out and avoid sugar based drinks, no hangover.

Nothing could stop my hangovers. Most of the time, I never went to sleep, night just turned to day.

+1
It takes an obscene amount of booze to give me a hangover with that "regimen." I'd add eat something substantial and fatty to your list of remedies Hat. Might not be good for the waistline but it'll keep ya from feelin like ****e in the mornin'

Also I was under the impression of avoiding pills if you've been drinking as they are hard on your stomach when mixed with booze.

Yeah nothing like a Whopper or Big Mac at 2am, that really helps!

I don't really get horrible hang overs anymore, last Friday I drank an obscene amount of booz and I didn't get a hangover. I haven't been that drunk since college!

Apple Pie did me in, and it was made so strong...in two gallons of Apple Pie their was about 2 handles of vodka. 6 cups makes the world spin.

A Whopper or BM requires driving in my area, so that's not a choice. I hope you can stagger off to one where you live and not drive.

Hangover is stupidity in motion. A little intelligence in motion is the answer, keep it out of your mouth.
