any tips to decarbonize a muffler?
 

working on a backpack leaf blower. it bogs down when on full throttle. i narrowed it down to a clogged muffler (i removed it and it works fine).

the muffler for the husqvarna is pretty expensive and the muffler is sealed.

does anyone have any tips on how to decarbonize?

obviously this is due to using too much oil in the gas.

Choke and carb cleaner will dissolve the carbon.

new mufflers are pretty cheap, though

Remove the muffler from the machine. You will need a propane torch and an air nozzle. It is recommended you do this OUTSIDE. Heat the muffler from the inside until it starts to smoke. Then, apply air to the process to burn up the carbon. You should have a lot of light blue smoke and carbon. Repeat until you don't get any more smoke.

I used to have to do this to my Bultaco off road m/c when I was a teenager.
it works well. Once it gets hot you can normally turn the heat off as the burning carbon will get it red hot.
