Frankly with some of the drivers on the road these days, I'd take my chances with the computer.

Tell me about it - you find most of them dropping their kids off at school. Avoid schools - avoid a pointless death due to an inconsiderate incapable unaware ****...

You're not kidding. Inconsiderate above everything else. My wife deals with them daily. Fortunately with the older two she just parks a block away and they meet her there, with the younger two she's right in the belly of the beast.

Yep - it puts a whole different meaning to making it through high school.

Drivers in your area are considerate and excellent in comparison to those down here!

I'd vote as a strong second to this the post-evening-meal period when moms are frantically rushing to get their kids to soccer-badminton-fencing-russian lessons-whatever.

Insane. They drive like paramedics on a code 3.

In this case it is. I remember my gf came up to visit one time and she couldn't believe that people actually had manners on the roads (letting each other go, not frenzied, etc.) My area in particular is bad, its generally very wealthy. The soccer moms act similarly in the manner you describe above but they know that id they hit anything they can buy their way out of it either via lawyer or just paying for it. The other day I was backing out of a spot, was about 3/4 way out and a giant SUV (Porsche) sped by behind me, missed me by inches. Same lot, a few days earlier...saw a huge brand new shiny (i.e. unused for any actual pickup use) ford pickup with a "don't tread on me" sticker on the front bumper fail to negotiate a corner. Knocked over a mailbox, oen of those newspaper thingers, and nearly hit a pedestrian. Guy flips off the pedestrian and speeds into a parking space. The stories go on and on...I've probably got hundreds from soccer moms driving enormous SUVs and literally not knowing how to park (I'd bet they couldn't park a hatch, forget about the SUV). The traffic and drivers are actually something I look forward to coming back to in CT sometimes.

I am also scared ****less that my brand new car is gonna get conked

Only Question...

How (If at all) do Autonomously operated vehicles respond to "Horns" ?

1st rule of Redneck Motordom:
If it don't respond to 145 dB, It's "Fair Game".
