Its an air motor. Runs on compressed air. No combustion. Interesting that they machined main bearing journals all the way along the crank & none were fitted. Chances are that if an either/kero mix was sprayed in the inlet with the air, provided the crank didnt break, it would run without needing compressed air. Similar principal to a model aircraft diesel engine.

i thought it was run on air. I didn't see any ignition source.

That was really amazing. It would have been impressive had it been made on a much larger scale, but at that scale, it was astounding.

If you want to see nice small engines, take a look at this. www.minimodelengines.com. His smallest engine is a 4-stroke OHV with an 1/8" bore and 5/32" stroke. I have the model Stover engine, #42 out of 50, and the workmanship is outstanding.
