Despite the V12 engine, this will NEVER be a collector's car.

And with 10,000 miles on it, even it it WAS one, every mile driven would diminish its value.

For someone that has the money, though and loves these, even in a nondescript color such as this one has, and is willing to risk not only the huge repair bills that the W140, is well known to have, a large German road car that needs to be driven on the highwy daily, but may well have also suffered who knows what kind of maladies from shrunken and dried out rubber bits all over it, from all those years just sitting, and so long as it had had a
dcumented historyof time and not mileage based services,

....then it could be worth a serious look.

But to buy it and just store it some more, would be a losing proposition and a waste of money.

If I wanted one of these body styles, I would go for a mint "99 grand", the black limited (700 made) last year of production 1999 "Grand Edition" S500 that came in 040 black only, and specific features like AMG wheels, maplewood trim and other exclusive features, and with the best balanced engine for this car, the 500.

And then go drive the living tar out of it. All over the country, 40k miles a year and up.

Those W140 sedans, they were like groud bound Lear Jets, raelly made for high speed long distance cruising.

Though in the USA, hobbled with ridiculous speed limits, upon the interstates, they are rather are a waste of the car's ability, in these wild out of joint times, and a dire risk to your drivers license if you get into the triple digit speed, a place where these cars really excel.
