Need advice...

Ok guys I need advice on a rifle I purchased a few weeks ago, here is the story:

I bought a Century Fal from a company called BMG Guns the Friday before Thanksgiving. I bought it for cash about $950 with taxes etc. At first I was very happy, I have wanted a Fal for a long time.

well I took it to the range and it malfunctioned in every way you can imagine. I was like WTF, so I brought it up to them the same day, 11/27/11. They said they would repair it or send it back to Century, I was fine with that. I mean you get bad apples once in awhile it happens.

Well now its 12/24/11 and I still have nothing. They told me it was going to be ready twice, at which point I drove up there, 70 mile round trip total. Next I got a bit annoyed with them an all of a sudden couldn't get anyone who knew anything on the phone. So I made another 70 mile round trip to them and got the owner. He told me it would be resolved and gave me a line about the manufacture bouncing back returns without RA numbers, etc. This was last Sunday, said he would call them Monday and get back to me. Well Tuesday I haven't heard from him so I get his wife, who said it was what she did in the business and no one ever told her to call Century. I'm thinking strange I talked to you on Sunday with your husband and even left a note to remind you to call me. She said she would call right away and I should call back. So I get busy with work and don't get a chance to call until today, Friday. I get the owner and he is a bit annoyed I am bothering him. No update, just the rifle is at the factory, its Christmas week and to stop bothering them.

Now at this point I'm pretty pissed off. I want to go up their tomorrow and demand my money back. If they don't I'm going to take them to small claims. IMHO I paid cash for a working rifle 4 weeks ago and have gotten nothing but the run around. I want my money back.

What do you guys thing? Am I totally nuts and off base here? I feel like I have given them enough time.

You may well be totally nuts but After reading your first three or so paragraphs I was thinking, just ask for your money back right now....and keep talking louder until they give it to you.

(I did that once at an Aamco transmission place here in Lafayette)....I didn't get it back that day but I did the next day after calling the national Aamco hot line.

After it is done, and you have back your money, I would go talk to the people at the Cabela's nearest to you.

Custoimer Service varies from store to store, but if you get a good rep at their gun library, it should be great.

At the beginning of the year I am going back to Cabela's in Reno and I will be ordering my first gun from them. I will be guided evry step of they way, as these people really care and know their knowledge

Does Century slap these things together from parts with cut and re-welded recievers etc like the do the CETMEs? I'd like to know what was wrong with the thing in general. But I do think you are being screwed. I think you'd be better off trying to get your money back and finding more reputable people to deal with.

There should be a Cabella's about 50 or so miles from you...

My youngest son gave me my Christmas present early

Check it out. It is a WASR brand I think he said. Purchased new in the box. In taking it down for cleaning it is quite evident that the designer knew what he was doing when he designed this jewel:).

As already stated I'd try to get my money back if I were you.

Get a refund if you can. Maybe get your lawyer to make a friendly inquiry.

Buy the parts and build your own FAL. Watch the metric/inch parts thing and make sure you buy a receiver that matches your parts kit. Check shotgun news, gun list. Start with an AR, any half coordinated monkey can build an AR. Fun, fun.

If you used a credit card, just call your card people and contest the charge. Tell them that you do not have the merchandise and the merchant has your money. They will cancel the charge until it is resolved. Money talks, BS walks.

ditto the credit card move. I won't pay cash, check or debit for any single item that costs over a hundred bucks any more. CC company will nearly always back the buyer. Unless it's got a bunch of custom junk hung on it, looks like you paid too much for that gun anyhow.

Shucks dude, all you need with that pic is to be wearing bib overalls and sittin' in front of a still with a corn cob pipe hanging out of your mouth!:D

He paid cash, so a refund is in order, it would seem anyway, any fine print?

I've heard Century is hit or miss, sounds you got a miss.

Good luck.

Nice AK Jim!!

Sadly I paid cash, a mistake I never will make again. If I bought it on my Visa the matter would have already been resolved with a charge back.

I think at some point this week I'm going to make one final trek up their to demand my money back and make a scene inside his store. He seems more friendly when their are a bunch of other customers around than over the phone.

If not I'm going to have to pursue getting my money back through other means. I'm done with this joker.

I have bought probably 15 guns in the past couple of years and have never had this problem.

Paste the text in your post #1 onto yelp and hit submit.

Done in 5 seconds.

I bought my Glock there. Good price, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and there was a really hot lesbian couple checking out 1911's while I was shopping:)
