Not sure I'd call it 'smear' politics. The word 'santorum' was coined many years ago before Santorum was running for the presidency. It also wasn't coined by any opposing political campaign. I'd call it political satire and one of the more successful examples of the genre.

So, showing his kids their little brother much like a funeral service turns your stomach? It sounds like a very good way for the kids to understand mortality. Would you rather they pitched the dead infant in the garbage can?

Not sure about you but I do not hold dead people much less sleep with one. How about a regular funeral? Have it open casket if you want the kids to see that they had a 20 week old brother who died.

To take the fetus home, cuddle with it is just plain weird IMO. It does to a state of mind that I do not agree with and would never want in office. He can do what he wants (it's still sort of a free country) but stuff like that will not get my vote (all of his other wacky ideas aside).

While I don't agree with the issue, I do agree with the stance. States exist purely for the fact regional interests remain preserved. They should have the power to ban any which thing that is not protected by the Constitution. Here's a protip: You vote for the people in your state legislature who vote to ban things.

I'm pointing out that Santorum thinks that deciding how many children you want to bear is not a natural right but can be regulated by the State.

There used to be a day when conservatives preferred "small government". I realize fiscal and religious issues are different but I would think that the philosophy would cross those lines. E.g. Get the gubberment out of our business! But it's okay for them to dictate some of the most personal decisions in our private lives.

Why point your nasty political finger at me? This has nothing to do with my views. I am saying that even a moderate would appear to be an extreme liberal in that environment had he spoken up. For fnc it was fortunate that he never had the balls to argue with hannity meaningfully since it clearly highlighted hannity as the winner in most conversations. IMO it's pretty unfortunate since it would have been a good forum had they been equals on opposite sides.

This is the essence of what passes for conservatism today.
