How Smart is your Pet?.....

The other day I was watching my favorite show "Scrubs" and I kept noticing our little pug dog was digging through his dog outfits, He had pulled one outfit out to the side. Then the wife decided to put one of the outfits on him. He wouldn't let us put one on him until we picked the one that he had pulled to the side separate from the others. When we tried to put that particular outfit on, he stood perfectly still. Sometimes I think that dogs are smarter than people.

Hey! Are you making fun of Robert for watching "Scrubs" or the fact his dog has better fashion taste?

Boredom can cause remarkable pet behavior.

For the most part, American pets live a life of luxury, food, healthcare, sombeody even picks up their poop for them . . . they're freakin' geniuses at teaching humans.

Taylor, my female rough collie/border collie mix can tell when my mood changes. Like right away.

I'm talking within 15 seconds she's flopping into my lap acting goofy or pushing up my arm looking for a head rub, looking in my eyes all the time.

Not just if I start to get depressed or sad. Even in the morning when I'm having my coffee and relaxing before leaving for work... as soon as I think "Oh, well, time to get your butt in gear" she's on top of me like a shot.

I can only figure it's my breathing changing as my thought pattern changes. It's freaking uncanny.

OTOH, I could probably be dead for four hours before the male would notice something was up

Taylor

First night in the house when we moved to CT, our former border collie mix Jack came up to bed with us.

On the floor in the middle of the bedroom, a bag of miscellaneous stuff that had been in the bedroom we left in CA.

With no prompting, Jack starts snuffling around in the bag. Pulls out a bone. Sets it to the left of the bag. Snuffle, snuffle, snuffle. Pulls out a sock. Sets it to the right of the bag. Lather, rinse, repeat a dozen or so times, every time his stuff goes to the left, not-his stuff to the right. Me and Darling Wife are giggling away on the bed, Jack totally oblivious to our presence.

Gets to a frisbee that came from a work picnic. Jack had never seen it before. Jack had never played frisbee before. He stood there with it in his mouth for a good 30 seconds, staring at us as if to ask "Mine? Yes? No?"

He finally got tired of waiting for us and put it in the his stuff pile.

I once tried to dress my Anatolian Shepherds up in little outfits. Tutus, and one had a TShirt with an arrow pointing to the left and said "I'm with Stupid".
They bit me and then went back outside and killed something. They are wicked smart dogs.

The outfit that my pug picked out had a skull and cross bones on the back.

One of my greyhounds not only learned to "speak" but also learned "little speak" It's more nasal than a bark and is quite comical.
