Gotta love seeing some go the other way... too many Californians in Colorado already, now if they'd just start taking Texans with 'em....

Those rates don't seem wildly different from the lower NY counties and NYC. And property taxes in CA are generally better controlled, whereas NY is either super cheap in the city, or sky-high in most of the 'burbs.

PS - congrats to the OP!

I am your closest neighbor here. Just up the road 26 miles from Auburn. Place called Grass Valley.

I can meet you for lunch this week in Auburn. Max's in the Holdiay Inn is probably the best, it is a successful San Francisco spin-off.

I can tell you the best, and the WORST, independent MB shops in the Sacramento to Grass Valley area.

And give some ruminations about the San Francisco vs Sierra Nevada country foothills life.

Stories that would amaze you.

And Roseville, I know some decent places to eat.

Can't bring my w124 1995 E420 to show you as it is being re painted this week.

But I can bring the '91 560SEC AMG. It's cool, just instaled a 10:1 high compression 300 hp euro engine in it.

Who told you THAT??!! Your "GOD" maybe?"

If it split like that, it would probably be a strike/slip movement along the San Andreas fault line. It would move south pretty quick. About 7 miles a second.

Might take out San Francisco and Los Angeles and San Diego...but up here in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains we are about 140 miles from all that.

Novels have been written about this. The best one I have read is called "The Last Days of the Late Great State of California" by Curt Gentry.

It's a super read....

But it was written back in 1969, though.

Damn, I live on the Roseville/Citrus Heights border! If your familiar with this area, I am off of Old Auburn and Wachtel.

What are you doing tomorrow (Monday)? Care to grab a bite to eat? I can wrangle up a few of the local MB owners.

Welcome to Nor Cal!

There's lots of gold rush history wrapped up in the Sierra foothills and exploring is half the fun. Start with Highway 49 and explore.

Also, the rail museum in Old Town Sacramento is a fantastic display of rolling stock and steam locomotives from the 19th and 20th centuries. Well worth going.
