Tough Mudder - Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet

Or at least that is the tagline. :D

I just registered for it. I'm on a team with 5 other guys right now. 5 months to train and get my arse in shape for it. I'm on my 3rd day of P90X and went for a 4 mile walk with the baby in the stroller today. :P

Tough Mudder - Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet

Basically it is a 10-12 mile course with 25 military style obstacles, team style. Should be fun. ;)

Have fun! Wrestling background can hurt.

I'll stick to my 10Ks, knees can't deal with those obstacles. Otherwise I'd kill it. :D

How long until a former high finisher in this event wins Survivor?

I'm thinking of doing this. I will be to busy for the SoCal event in February, but July would be feasible. I was thinking of training for a marathon this year but I think this is more fun and challenging. Thanks for the post.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The wife is a big long distance runner. She has run something like 12 marathons and even one 50 miler. I ran my first one 1.5 years ago. I liked it but it was just okay. We were thinking of doing a marathon the same weekend this event is (here in the Twin Cities) but a friend asked if I wanted to join his team so I went for this instead. She is going to do a marathon another weekend.

How about a Fear Factor winner. ;)

i just sent a note to my duaghter. I could see her husband winning this. He is a smaller guy...with a nuclear reactor inside.

I know a lot of folks who do these, they look like a lot of fun but certainly challenging. One of my coworkers sent me a picture of him running through a fire and into ice water...might have been a different event but there are a handful o them. I'll stay on my bike personally, got a 100 miler that I'm training for at the moment.

It's not really a "race". It is more team oriented style and comradery.

Good luck with your race. My wife's goal is to run a 100 mile race.

I'll just stick to my 5K

my wife was just talking about this the other day. they have an event scheduled for PA in the spring.

I am assuming you have to do it as a team? I see a lot of teamwork in the pics.

Ideally. They really emphasize the team aspect. I think 99% compete as a team.

Tough Mudder Michigan/Ohio 2012 Official Video - YouTube

One week away. I haven't got the training in I wanted to but I'm definitely in better shape than I was in January. I've lost 12 lbs, ran 10 miles last Sunday and am doing another 10-12 this Sunday then will start tapering. I've gotten the runs in but I haven't quite done the muscle/sprint workouts I wanted to. I know I'll be able to finish, it will just be how much I hurt afterwards. :o That curved wall at ~2 minutes scares me the most.

In my younger years, I'd be all over this...now that I'm older, age seems to have caught up with me too soon. I'll be 40 this year, and have already been told that I'll have to have both knees replaced sometime in the next 5 years.

I guess the years of weight lifting, football and wrestling, as well as years of working on my feet, standing on concrete all day long has taken it's toll on this body.

Good luck, and enjoy the good type of pain afterwards.
