* IBM Smashes Moore's Law to bits - like 12 atoms... *

Who said we may never be able to know how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

It looks like we may be able to put the Bible plus the contents of the Library of Congress on the head of that pin if this is getting close to becoming a reality within the next 10 years or so...

IBM smashes Moore's Law, cuts bit size to 12 atoms

The may be the new "Moore's Law-IBM Factorized" defined...

I remember the first IBM PC with floppy disks. It was a big deal when you could upgrade to a 10 megabyte hard drive. A drive the same size as that one holds so much data the measurements are just numbers to us, numbers so large that we don't comprehend how large they are.

Before you start counting chickens pay attention to what may be hatching. IBM got lots of bonds due soon? Newsflash, your money is safe with us.

I remember my dream Mac having a 500MB hard drive. The optical drive was optional. I recall the first color scanner being s l o w and costing about $3k.

I had a LISA which came with a 5MB hard drive. It took a bit to spin up and was not very fast at seek times. Of course it was much faster than a floppy of the same vintage.

My two original Macs that I have did not even come with a hard drive. Only a one sided 400k floppy and just 128k of RAM! I still play with them from time to time. They still boot up faster than the latest Macs!!

My first Mac had a 9" screen and I had to do a 64 page catalog, talk about scrolling.

I love the thick, dark primary pencils. I have several cases of them left over from my classroom. I used them as an incentive for my students to bring their own pencils to class. Borrow one from me, you get a baby pencil. No self respecting 6th-8th grader wants to write with a kindergarden pencil.
My first home Apple was pre-Mac (not MAC). An Apple IIC compact. I think it had 512 memory, but I'm not sure.

At my first design job out of college we used a Mac with one of those 9" screens. Did books, ads, you name it...was like looking through a pipe to do layout with that thing.
