Etta James passes at 73
With all her serious health struggles the last few years this isn't a surprise.
Terrific voice; we're lucky she shared it. Nice article in the Times about her. Etta James, dead at 73

That's too bad, she was a great musician.
About 15 years ago I was on a plane with my family headed for LA. The Etta James band was on the plane with us. The trombonist sat next to my daughter and the lead guitarist sat next to my son. The group was a really laid back and pleasant bunch of guys. They had finished their last performance of a tour and were headed home and evidently Etta had gone somewhere else after the tour. She will be missed.
