And all this time I thought that "the change" was the unemployment rate going over 9% after he promised that his stimulus package would prevent it from going over 8 and that in two years it would be down to 6.

Silly me!

Is anyone surprised? The GOP is using superPACs for their funding, Obama would be at a significant financial disadvantage--i.e. why bring a knife to a gun fight?

That being said, its sad that votes can essentially be bought. Good ol' America!

Obama and McCain spent over $2 billion to buy the WH in 2008.

I am shocked that Obama simply didn't surrender to the Republicans. Shocked, I tell you, shocked.

Well the labor unions are a pretty significant source of democratic party funding. Pretty neat trick with public sector labor unions being paid by the taxpayers. Could be seen to be a conflict of interest.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that public sector employees would want a voice in this democracy. Shocking. Unprecedented.

I thought public workers, through their paychecks, paid union dues. Is this not correct? They are also taxpayerss.

Is it your view that public workers should have reduced rights?

Silly you indeed. The White House projected that with the stimulus unemployment wouldn't go over 8. It did. It's now back down to a tick over 8 and the trend is falling. Please quote me the President's "promise", and after you do, please explain how it is you believe any president's "promise" regarding an economy he largely doesn't control. Did you believe RayGun's promise not to raise taxes?
Finally, Obama didn't EVER promise or even look forward to 6%. You're either deluded or making that up. Which is it? What he did say, on 9-1-11, was that he felt the unemployment rate would stay above 6% thru 2017. If you call that a "promise", you need a better dictionary.

Your claim of being just a tick above 8 is a bit skewed, don't you think? In those figures, they don't count those that have fallen off of the unemployment roles, those that quit looking due to not finding work, etc.

Using the U-6 methodology, the real unemployment rate is still over 15%.

I guess it's just in how you spin the numbers...

Right. No matter how you slice it, the trend is down. 6% was never promised by anyone.

Wrong...the numbers of those that no longer qualify for UC benefits and can't find work is up, and still climbing.

The number of jobs that come out each month are UNDER the number of people looking for work each month (i.e. those entering the workforce for the first time.)
