I haven't made that drive in over 15 years and when I did I had a meeting in Shreveport. The interstate was not complete South of Alexandria at the time so it was a tough drive. Are you going to Houston and over or through Shreveport?

Have a safe trip!

Shrevport. We are 28 miles from the i220 cut off. I take over driving when we find a rest stop. So far the E300 is doing very well. She is a good cruiser. Should be at the hotel at 4:03 according to the GPS.

we averaged about 70 coming here so fuel mileage was 31 MPG. Not to bad.

It took us about two hours to get to the hotel. There was a Mardi Gras parade in front of the hotel so roads were closed and traffic was hellacious. We had dinner at the Palace Cafe. Great food. Crashed at the hotel and we will hit the town tomorrow.

This was our first long road trip in the E300. I was amazed (I guess I should have known better) at how easy the trip was. 9 hours in the car and I was not all that worn out. Not nearly as much as I thought I would be.

I think we will hit the Garden district tomorrow and then go from there.

I liked the Columns (?) hotel when I was there. Took a streetcar from the French Quarter to see it as I recall. Setting for the movie Pretty Baby.

Yes. all interstate. Quite a few miles of suspended interstate over the swamps and stuff. Quite an interesting drive. The road quality of the interstate in LA is quite different from TX though. Not horrible but not ass good.

Yes the elevated Interstate between N.O. and LaFayette is indeed interesting. Makes you wonder if you might be doing just as well by boat.

Check out The Avenue Pub off St Charles. You will not be disappointed if you are a fan of good beer.

Noted for next visit...

Cooter Bown's is another excellent place for beer fans. Not a tourist destination either.

Cooter Brown's Tavern, Grill & Oyster Bar - A New Orleans Classic!!
