Not worried. Google is supposed to know everything about me, and thinks that I'm a 45-50 year old male (I'm a 32 yo male) who researches investments a lot (OK, guilty as charged).

I don't drink a whole lot, but I never buy beer or wine at Target, because they scan your driver's license (at least in CA) to "confirm your age".
Uh, huh. I'm sure that's going in a database somewhere. And not that I really care who knows that I bought some beer or wine. But to my way of thinking, *I* should be the one to hold, disclose or share that information as I see fit. |

LOL, so you get all the E-D ads and "meet your mate" crap, too?

US passport is a perfectly legal form of ID, and most stores don't have the facility to scan them.

Not really - but if you look for "ad preferences manager", you can go to a site that tells what Google "knows" about you.

I guess people who don't drive (or have the DMV ID) are SOL at Target, at least in CA. Besides, the day I want beer badly enough that I'll get my passport out of the safe so I can go to Target is the day I instead check myself into rehab. |

I generally carry my passport, exactly because it gets me in to anything that requires ID (around here anyway), can't be easily scanned and recorded, plus it doesn't contain my address. However, VERY few stores and bars card you if you're buying beer around here. Periodically, the cops give neighborhood merchants a hard time -- they make a show of checking and go back to their old ways after a week.

Cool, I just checked, I have no ads preferences based on my cookie.

according to the story target assigns you a guest i.d. when you scan your credit card.what about paying with cash?unless your buying something that requires you to be 21 they wouldn't be the wiser.unless they use facial recognition on their security cameras.
