Did the cop have a permit for the gun? Did he pass a background check?

Love that law-enforcement verbiage. To quote: "Charlotte police say when they arrived at the scene Ferrell “immediately charged towards the three officers, one in particular. That officer fired his weapon several times, striking individual multiple times.” "
How does one discern a "charge" from the act of merely running over to talk to someone? |

I don't believe that uniformed officers typically conceal-carry.

The shooter, or the guy who can now do a convincing imitation of a colander?

I believe the manslaughter charge stems from the district attorney's investigator's failure to find a hoodie at the scene.

Does quickly calling it manslaughter get past the ideal of second degree murder? I thought manslaughter was accidental in nature. For example if I accidentally kill you with my negligence.
The officer obviously had intent to shoot him. Plus it looks like he used all his bullets in the gun. I wonder if it is like the recent case in Canada where the officer used all nine bullets. Six of them after the student went down. Very sad to hear of a life ending in this fashion anyways. |

Five years on the police force. The video someone got of the total episode on an empty streetcar. There were other police around.
Another officer tasered him after all the shooting when he was probably already dead. All officers will soon have video cameras on their person it seems as a result. They have to do something to get these officers attention. Incidentally it is almost impossible to get a permit to carry a pistol in Canada. Concealed or openly. |
