What are all those black and white things for?

Congrats...I wish I'd learned the piano. Along with about a million other wishes.

Impressive sir!

Enjoy it for years!

I would recommend regular tunings (at least as often as teeth cleanings or Catholic confessions)...

Nothing degrades a fine instrument like lack of maintenance...pianos or Mercedes Benz vehicles!

I'd go broke if I had to pay for tunes as often as (I need) confessions.

It's beautiful!

I have an antique Steinway full upright. I don't have room for a grand or baby grand. What size is it?

It's a 6' 10" or 208 as they like to call it. It's used, the finish is a little dull but it sounds fantastic. It had been sitting there because, you know, people mostly buy grand pianos to use as furniture, and this one wasn't pristine.

Although I can't play piano, many years ago I was lucky enough to be part of a choir that sang a cantata composed by Nielson & Young...who played in front of us on back-to-back concert grand Steinways. It was a big stage, but those two pianos took up most of the room. Those guys are scary talented.

Bach said that playing the piano ( or the organ) was the simplest thing in the world. It just requires that you hit the right key at the right time.

What could be simpler?

Enjoy your new piano. Its is beautiful, but the sound is more important.

Kinda how I got mine years ago. Formerly owned by an elderly couple who decided that it was collecting dust from disuse, and ultimately traded it in for a digital player piano!

Daughter still plays it daily, and I occasionally exercise my chops on it as well...
