Very nice. A similar like the one in the pictures below but in red was parked in my neighborhood back in Amsterdam: was used to deliver Dutch newspapers to Paris. One day I will own a SM or CX GTi.

Arrow Dream on, U.S.bidders.

It's a neat car but it is illegal here in the USA and can NEVER be made legal.

The reason Citroen quit importing cars like this into the USA was because of ongoing feuding with the U.S. DOT.

ABOUT HEADLIGHTS AND BUMPERS.

Last ones that came in were 1973's.

And this one is a 1974. Even if you paid the $10,000 to the EPA and DOT for a gray market conversion and certification attempt you can't get the bumpers and headlights for a 1974 version because there ARE none!!

It would be a whole 'nother headache at that point and the car could conceivably stay in an impound yard for years or get crushed.

So forget it., fellas.

$32,000 "Buy it now", on ebay, another couple thousand $$$ to put it in a container and ship accross Europe and the Atlantic, and then, $10,000 into conversion costs, and you can't put it legally on the road. And well over $40k has gone down the rat hole. For NOTHING.

Nein danke.

You can find them in the Stats: the CX was imported by CXA in NJ, similar story as the Gwagon in the 80's and 90's.

Jesus did you slaughter the French:

Quand il se passe quelque chose d'inattendu dans les parrages, qui vas-tu appeler?

BTW I serviced an ambulance like this that made an around the world fundraising trip, including through the United States.

Like everyone else, the people outside the francophone world think that Citroens are rare cars, and since they never venture beyond their own linguistics "shores" it's rare, unique and different, so that means expensive.

There are no Double-Bubble gum wrappers in Budapest either, so I'm selling them for the bargain price of $10,000 each.

Two for 15,000.

Actually the latest DOT regs include an exemption Jim.
I know this because I just got a motor through that would have been illegal, by your definitions, because it can't be homologated.
Cost me $ 165.00 in fees.

However, the future owner doesn't care.

Ah yeah, the 25+ year exemption now in place liekly nullfies most of what I said.

It is possible the car could be brought in as-is pretty much.

There is a small but very fanatical cadre of Citroen lovers in the USA.
Maybe one of them would like to nab this one and has the financial wherewithal and desire to so. It is certainly unique over here.

The BX and CX would be VERY rare around here.

Once about 10 years ago I found myself in Copenhagen in Denmark one evening with my wife and saw a parade of Citroens going down a main street near the center of town. All of them flying the French flag!

Must have been a club event of Danish owners.

Of course, it was on July 14th!!! Bastille Day!! hahaha

There is someone up here in this small mountain twn, that has an old Citroen convetible, an ID or DS 19 variant -- I think.

It has a bumper sticker on the trunk with the Citroen Chevron on it and the words

"I THINK YOUR CAR LOOKS FUNNY, TOO".

Let me know when you want the SM and I will make a call.

They are not available for 4.95 except in 1/18 scale or on auction hunters in the History Channel.

You have to spend serious money, it involves buying a serious car.

There are maybe 1000 runners of these types in the US.

There's a CX 10 miles from me that i might buy soon, havbe to get more room first.

Then there are people who have an early DS19 and an SM for sale too. Typically people don't know how to maintain these, then they fail.

SMs can usually be revived quickly, but that requires a small infusion of cash.

I know. I've been tempted many times buying a SM for around $7K here in LA, but would not proceed because I knew it would burn me financially. I will have to wait 'till I can afford one that's overhauled by SM World.

I want this car since I'm a teenager, an old girlfriends dad owned two of them: a gold and a white one.

I wouldn't know French if Gomez Addams kissed me up my arm world.altavista.com slaughtered the French.

I test drove a CXA available locally. Rust and an iffy transmission kept me away. Not many cars can make a 91 300SE feel like a buckboard. I take that back - any W140 makes a 91 300SE feel like a buckboard
