Uneducated, low income people pay more for car insurance.

Unless there is an actuary or two that post here, I don't think you will get a meaningful answer. Of course, you COULD ask PaulC. He can answer because he knows everything, or at least he thinks he does.

You couldn't possibly mean that there's a good reason to get a good education and earn a lot of money? What a concept!

I thought the poor can't afford auto's and is the reason why we have public transportation.

Being poor is expensive.

That comment made me laugh...
![]() As bad as it sounds, it's true. Poor people pay higher interest rates on loans, because of either lack of credit, or bad credit. So, you're right...you pay more when you're poor. If people were to be responsible with their credit ratings, they could live cheaper.

Not everyone is capable or.cut out for bigger education. Not everyone can make six figures. That does not justify the insurance companies over charging people for services.

What overcharging? I'm sure if there is a wrong going on here then some lawyers would have already found a way to make money on it.

In this country college dropouts can become billionaires if they have a great idea and work hard. Also, there are millions of men and women who do not have formal education beyond high school that earn very good incomes if they're willing to (1) show up (2) on time (3) sober and (4) put in honest work for their pay. An education is a visa not a passport. |

Generally, the poor and lower educated people live in higher crime areas. Therefore, the risk the insurance company takes in insuring residents of those areas is higher.
Also, rates are higher for those with lower credit ratings. The poor generally have lower credit scores. I'm not seeing much of an issue here...

My furniture store is nicely settled in the middle of the ghetto. Here are some observations:
Rent for a ghetto 2 bedroom apt, that probably has roaches, leaky roof, inadequate heat. $400 Rent for a nice 1 bedroom in the surrounding suburb, heat included $425. Nothing within walking distance. 1/2 gallon of milk: $3.29 20oz coke: 1.89 1 roll of toilet paper (the cheap chit) $1.00!!!!! Basically any canned food is double the price, and there are NO fruits or veggies in sight. Gas is 20 cents more a gallon. A piece of crap 15 year old ford tauras will sell for 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS during tax season. I saw one guy sell a crown vic with 28" inch rims for 7 grand. An early 2000's escalade is like gold down here. I feel bad for some of these people, they are living day to day, and everybody nickel and dimes them to death. Living in the hood makes your car more succeptable to theft which makes insurance more expensive.
