Perhaps that's the problem.
The country is in so much debt, and everyone is so dependent on entitlements, they don't understand what's rational anymore.
Thirty second sound bites make up the depth of their political thought.

You know liberalism is a diagnosed mental condition. Haven't seen too many on the Tea Party.

I will agree that the debt is a problem, but you are indeed naive if you place the blame solely on Reagan. The entitlement mentality was set in motion far earlier; we are reaping what was sowed pre WW2.

Entitlement mentality: I'm entitled to lower and lower taxes. Somehow lowering the top marginal tax rate for the past 50+ years, 70+% to 35% has not contributed to the deficit problem?

Chances are, the majority as pointed out, are nothing but "bandwagon jumpers" loaded with more disparity then innovation and no true sense of activism. In other words, they are followers rather then leaders.

Similar to your use of the term 'unelectable'. Not that you invented it. More like, you picked it up from those whose intentions are to infringe the democratic course of primary elections.

To call a perfectly electable candidate "unelectable" with whatever intend coupled to it, is not only undemocratic, but also highly unethical and with that un-American. IMO

Maybe we could compromise and decide that 'unelectable' means that the candidate would not be able to get enough votes to win....

Unfortunately, Ron Paul fits that definition.

Glad to see that you've finally accepted that, Larry

That's because all of this is still in the talking stage. It is currently being discussed in OKC and everybody is trying to save their special tax breaks for their special groups.

The Gov here wants to follow the 'Texas Plan' which hinges on no state income tax. But the money has to come from somewhere and the personal property tax seems to be the favored source. There are also a lot of business incentives that are on the block to be cut and that has businesses howling.

Taxes on a home in Oklahoma are about $700 a year. If you are over 65 you are exempt. When the Ledge members started looking at what it would take to do away with the state income tax the only ones that favored it were Republicans that plan on running for a national office so they can claim 'I did away with the state income tax'.

Oklahoma is a small place. My State Senator lives about a mile away from me and I run into him in the Coffee Shop. Our State Rep also lives close by and I see him at civic functions. They are always eager to talk to folks.

This all may come to nothing, but the Governor here is behind it 100%. The TP folks I know that were some of her biggest supporters feel like she has turned on them for her own glory.

All I can say to them is: No kidding?
