Another question for Suburban Owners

I've test driven two 99 Suburbans now which have had the exact same problem and I'm curious as to what the issue is.

When moving off from stationary everything seems fine. And if you keep your foot lightly on the throttle the vehicle continues to drive normally. But as soon as you floor it the thing bogs down with an increase in revs, or at least engine noise as if it's shifting down to low gear but instead of going faster the thing actually slows to a crawl and nearly stops. You have to let off on the gas almost all the way before it resumes fairly normal operations. Any ideas? Is this a tranny or injection problem? Possibly caused by sitting a long time on the lot or is there something else going on?

- Peter.

I think the '99 is still has throttle body injectors, which are not the most responsive system on the planet. If it has been sitting on the lot, it might just need a bit of Italian Tune Up.

Our '92 can be a balky beast at times, and yes, I sometimes have to ease up and re-apply throttle a few times to convince it to get going. A car, it ain't!

Try only part-throttle and let the rev's build a bit before you open it all the way up to WOT.

Then too, try other 'burbans for comparison.

I've got a 99 Silverado, about the same thing. I read complaints like you mention on another forum and have used this one for troubleshooting a few times. You ought to be able to find your issue there.

Interesting thanks. I've test driven six so far and two manifested this issue while the others were perfect. I'll check out that link.
