To those people who said newer MBs are junk....

Check this out:

2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320 CDI

243k miles on an 06 CDI!

Looks pretty clean too for the amount of miles....

Seats, door panels, wood, and steering wheel look to in pretty good shape! Looks to have withstood the test of time and mileage pretty damn well!

Car looks wonderful and is holding up very well. Those E320 CDI's are a fantastic car. Even for a prefacelift 211 that was known for issues I have not herd of too many issues with the CDI really. That one is the same color as my w203

Hmm well a 2006 Hyundai will do the same mileage. I'm not impressed.

Hey, my Mercedes-Benz is awesome, and brand-new. I haven't had any issues with it, plus it was cheap, only a measly $216,000 for a high performance car that scoots!!

But what will it take to keep it going for 20 - 30 years?

Happy Motoring, Mark

No more than any other 30 year old Mercedes.

Bet it has the original gear box too, they do build them pretty good these days!

Oh come on. Most of the the electronics and luxury items in my W123 have failed in 20 years and it hardly has any compared to a newer MB.

Ditto

The main reason my W123s are of the more simple variety - 240D & Euro 300TD.

Happy Motoring, Mark

The business of recycling electronics (think modules) is going to get that much better. In my opinion, it will be the cost of module replacement that will make ppl want to get rid of them.

With that said, I had a 2007 S550 in that needed both windshield wiper motors replaced. ~$600 for parts, 30 minutes to an hour to swap. Anyway, compare that to say, a new monoblade wiper assy for a w124.
