Cub Cadet belt Change

Anyone have a LT1040? I've got the old belt off but I dont know If I'm supposed to drop the pully from the crank to get the new belt on it? there's guards in the way that are making putting the belt on a pain in my lower split quarters

Don't have a Cadet but my Yardmochine was easier dropping the pulley, it had keeper shrouds . Impact gun/jack.

I've got an LT1050, so some level of guessing they're the same here.

Two guards on top of the deck come off (hand full of ~ 10mm headed bolts on each, one smaller hiding under the grass clippings on one side ).

One of the pulley's is on a spring-loaded arm. Pull that back against the spring, and you'll have enough play to get the belt on.

Of course, you could always RTFM

I got it. I bent the keeper tabs a little and made a belt 'guide' by clipping a vice grips and slowly turning the crank. It finially slipped on. as for the manual. I never got one. the mower is 5 or 6 years old and I looked quickly online but diddnt see it.

but the steps I found
drop the deck. 2 spring tabs slide it forward off the support then slide it out of the way. Take the belt off the tensioners.

drop the PTO/Clutch from the crank

Drop down the top pully to release the keeper fingers

slide the belt off then work your way back and take it off the transmission being careful of the fan on it

Reverse order to button it up

I have to remove the battery and tray on my Cub Cadet. Then the belt goes on super easy.

that is for a newer model then mine, my setup is very different then that one. some of the parts are not on mine, but it did illuminate several other things I had questions on

@Chad battery is under the hood, the only thing under the seat is the fuel tank which I could not see how to remove (though I'd like to so I can take it to the gas station then carting gas cans around)
