Should be PC as long as the US flag is flown above it on the same flagstaff or seperately on a taller one...

When do the sheep lovers get their flag raised? (no pun intended)

That's really stupid. Raise a gay flag in a homophobic country that already hates us.

Lovely.

The problem is they did it ON A U.S. MILITARY BASE. It would have been just as much against the rules and regulations - albeit most likely without the notice or controversy - if they'd ran a Playboy Rabbit flag up the pole.

When in the military, you can express your views on political and social issues, as long as you do it in a way that makes it clear they are your personal views as a private citizen. When you do it in such a way that you appear to be endorsing said views as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or invoking the tacit endorsement of same, you're going to get into trouble.

Re the recent story about a Marine who is getting discharged, who ran a blog where he was highly critical of the CIC - because he did it in such a way that he stated he was giving his views as a member of the U.S. military, not his personal views as John Q. Public.

That makes sense.

Huh? This was in Afghanistan. If they're homophobic, they have a funny way of showing it, with all the gay sex they're having. Most of them also probably don't know what that flag means anyway. The literacy rate over there is not very high.

Nothing handles nonsenses like this, like 2,000,000 Chinese troops and 20,000 tanks.

There's A/C and heat. Pampered living, I know.

Ron Paul wants to do away with A/C in the combat zones as cost savings. He says it's something like $10 million.

Let him sit in 2 feet of snow, or 100 degrees, and see if it's an unnecessary extravagance.

Regarding the flag, maybe the windsock was broken? They made us take down our unit flags and signs in Khobar Towers. This should be a WGAS matter.

This is what gets protesters and advocates in trouble every time.

We live in a democracy that allows freedom of expression. However, in certain organizations, the DoD being one of them, the way in which you do your personal political expression may be limited by regulation.

Soldiers can protest, just not in uniform; flags may or may not be flown, depending on treaty, regulation or OPSEC.

Nobody would care if you had that flag next to your bunk. It's what you do with it, vis-a-vis the US Flag, that makes all the difference.

And to those people who said " They can't tell me what to do!" well, yeah, you signed a contract and gave an oath. If you are not well informed on what you enlisted for, well, it seems you got some reading to do.

I'm the only one who can b**** because I was drafted. But I retire soon.

In the military I served in, women were in administrative or nursing positions. No gays or women were on the front lines fighting the war. I'm told that women will soon serve aboard U.S. Submarines. PC has taken over.

It's an experiment, nobody has taken over nothing, and who cares, if they do their jobs? If they mess it up for others, it will be cancelled.

Officers only, four women living in a common room.

Next thing, they'll allow integrated units. Oh my God, there will be Negroes in the Army!
But wait, that happened 64 years ago. Hmmm.....

Well seeing the draft ended back in the 70'S I am going to have to say you volunteered to re enlist at least once. Unless I misunderstood your post and are retiring from a civilian job and not the military.

Thank you for your service.

Nope, I got a congressional appointment as a warrant officer. They didn't require enlisting when you got a WO appointment at that time over. By the time they changed the paperwork requirements, I was grandfathered. There's only 7 guys older than me that are left.

After that, just my other job for a few years, then that's it, wrenching and machining full time for ME.

You served too, thanks for doing your part as an anlistee.
