Was up on the St. Lawrence Seaway upstream of Montreal last week where it was widened and deepened in the late 50's putting a number of towns underwater. Saw a very interesting historical documentary on that process. I assume the Welland Canal was widened and deepened around the same time.

Nice video. Does that ship have bow thrusters on it? I'm trying to figure out how it makes some of the moves it does. I can't see any tugboats at work.

Why does the yellow crane arm on the front right of the lock go down and up right before the water starts flowing out of the lock? Also why does the boat appear to go into each lock slightly cockeyed.

I saw the bow thrusters kick up some mud in one maneuver.

I don't know what the time lapse compression is but it looks like that ship will out hustle a 240D!
