People often don't do anything to control their small spoiled children. This article tried to make it sound like the airline was unreasonable but i bet the other passengers would tell us that the kid was obnoxious and the parents didn't do enough to get the kid to chill out.

Kids don't just get out of control all at once. It is usually a pattern of behaviour that is allowed to go unchecked by the parents.

The lovely Mrs. and I often have our meals disrupted by unruly children. We have five children and we used to take them out to eat with us but our kids behaved because they knew if they did not they would be disciplined.

Parents often expect unreasonable things from their kids. IE if you take a kid to the store at 10 oclock at night of course the kid is exhausted and will cry and be a *****. that is the parents fault.

Kudos to the pilot and the airline for backing him.

The kid just turned two. They should have let one of the parents hold the child.
I don't like screaming kids on flights anymore than the next guy, but it seems like there may have been a shortage of compassion from the flight crew.

My experience with JetBlue has been unfavorable all around. Probably the worst carrier I have ever flown, and this just seems par for the course.

I think the pilot made the correct decision.

Don't you think the child could have been allowed to sit with a parent?

My kids sat with a parent until they were too big to pass as 2 anymore...which was right about 3.

I would rather make my connection with a noisy flight than burn an hour or more returning to the gate to drop people off.

Of course, we weren't there so can't say how extravagant the 'tantrum' was, so have absolutely no way of determining whether the actions were appropriate or not. I think we have all seen examples of complete douchebags as flight crew and as passengers.

The pilot is responsible for the safe operation of that unit. It is at his descretion who rides and who doesn't. I can only surmise that he considered it enough of an issue to handle it the way he did.

At this point, I am not sold on the quality of JetBlue pilots. They pay less than other carriers, and as a result get the dregs. Sorta like the meltdown guy from a couple weeks ago.

Either way, I purchased my last JetBlue ticket some number of years ago, as an airline, they are the worst. The number of issues I had flying with them was not remotely worth the savings.

I was not there either but I will say this....I have been put off far more by other passengers than by flight crews.

I never fail to be impressed with how hard they work and manage to (usually) do it with unfailing good cheer.

Fantastic, everyone else stuck on that flying aluminum tube didn't have to listen to a kid fire up the scream siren for hours.

Could there be a market for flights with a "kids' section?" i.e., anechoic tiles on the inner walls, a thick acoustic curtain separating it from the rest of the plane.

Agreed.

Kudos on here means nothing.

Send an e-mail to JetBlue supporting their actions.

You know that every parent who owns a 2 year old disaster will send an e-mail condemning their actions............................

Sometimes letting the parent hold the kid makes no difference whstsoever.

Back in '08 I was on a nonstop flight from San Antonio to Charlotte - a Delta subsidiary using a smaller jet, only 2 seats on either side of the isle, a real cigar tube.

Woman seated directly behind me had a kid under 2 sitting in her lap. From the moment we took our seats in SA, until we were able to get off at the gate in Charlotte, that kid was kicking the living crap out of the back of my seat like he/she was practicing with a soccer ball - a constant tattoo like someone beating a drum - and pitching intermittent squawling fits as well.

And neither the attendants or Mommy Dearest would do a damn thing to make the little brat stop - mom just kept on chatting with the person beside her, acting as if everything was perfectly normal. And when I went to use the restroom, a polite word to the attendant, asking her if she could talk to the woman, at least get the kid to stop kicking my seat or sit sideways for a while, just earned me a cold stare as if I were a registered child molester.

Most miserable flight I've ever had to experience by far.
