Great video.
Is funny how even the US made guitars are built by Mexicans. Strats are nice, but hardly any remain stock in the hands of distinct players.

Lately, I have been more on to Les Pauls. Different tone, different all together.

Not too many guitar guys here. Well, I guess it's not the ideal forum.

What struck me most was how many things are still done by hand. Not the obvious stuff with the wood, but the machining of many of the parts that could easily be automated.

Cool promo vid, though, thanks for the link.

Humbuckers vs single coil, bolt on neck vs molded, and the total mass of the LP Customs and Standards vs. the lighter Strat. Different strokes.

A new Strat in showroom stock is okay, but there such a large high quality aftermarket vendor world that customization isn't a sin.

Isn't Fender's corporate HQ in Phx or Snotsdale now?

I love the Stratocaster. It's by far the ergonomically finest body of any solid body electric guitar. IMO, anyways.

I own 2 MIM (Made In Mexico, Ensenada) They may not be the most refined materials and/or finishing, but they are structure wise perfectly sound.

Since I am a lousy player, I can't justify the expense for a vintage example.
I changed out the stock pickups, while leaving the electronics in place.

The Strat is very distinguishable by the sound resulting from the tremolo block/bridge assembly, if compared to a Telecaster string-thru-body, ashtray bridge assembly.
The type of wood/finish also makes a lot of difference in resonance and sustain.

A friend owns a '56 Strat which he bought in the mid seventies for a 3-digit $ figure.

If I were going shopping for a solid body electric, I'd likely go with a Paul Reed Smith.

PRS are nice guitars. I never really tried one and I better stay clear, since I am already in double digits.

I was close to buying a PRS SE w/ P90s, but the seller withdrew in the last moment.
I 'unintentionally' ended up w/ one of the last new and now discontinued Epiphone '56 Goldtops.

Actually, I am an accomplished guitarist, but being left-handed, I can't buy great guitars off the shelf.

Would love to own a trio consisting of a Strat, a Les Paul, and a hollow-body of some sort. I do own a classical acoustic, and that one was custom-made. It's hard to justify the expense of custom axes when you aren't in the biz.

I used to play guitar. I was quite proficient, having played a few gigs both solo and with flautist and string quartet, I even had a few students. I now have focal dystonia (look it up, too long to explain)

Always liked the feel of a Telecaster myself.

I'm currently building a Jazzmaster. Along with that I have a USA Strat with Clapton Noiseless pickups and Sperzels. My other main guitar is a Gibson SG with Burstbuckers. I also just finished changing the finish on my ESP Viper. Went from a poly white to a lacquer seafoam green.
