You're gonna love this one...

Your tax dollars, spent on transplanting a plant that can be bought for less than $20 at the nursery...

Shovel Ready in San Fran: $205,075 to

Quote:
The government spent at least $205,075 in 2010 to “translocate” a single bush in San Francisco that stood in the path of a $1.045-billion highway-renovation project that was partially funded by the economic stimulus legislation President Barack Obama signed in 2009. “In October 2009, an ecologist identified a plant growing in a concrete-bound median strip along Doyle Drive in the Presidio as Arctostaphylos franciscana,” the U.S. Department of Interior reported in the Aug. 10, 2010 edition of the Federal Register. “The plant’s location was directly in the footprint of a roadway improvement project designed to upgrade the seismic and structural integrity of the south access to the Golden Gate Bridge.

I'd like to snopes that one.

Clearly not an unbiased source.

Did you send them money, Jon?

I would have bought one and planted it in the wild.

We had a similiar situation here in Minneapolis, although it's not really impacting anything at all. Theodore Wirth Park is the home of the northernmost something or other berry bush in the world. We wanted to build a shed there and we were told we couldn't. I have half a mind to take a graft of that bush and plant it in some other park North of there.

By the details given in the article, it's unclear whose taxes paid for the removal. I expect once the plant was identified they were bound by federal endangered species laws. Also not mentioned is the fact that wild plants and their hybridized nursery relatives are very often not exactly the same.

Your tax dollars at work.

The only possible solution is to tax the hell out of the rich, and redistribute it to Demokrat supporters.....

Just pave over everything on your way to drill for oil in the National Arctic Wildlife Refuge...

Where's this attitude when the freakin military buys a $20000 hammer?

Less than 2% of the road project. The contractors will end up with undocumented overruns that far exceed that amount

This whole situation makes me think of this classic Bugs Bunny cartoon:
