Tried my hand at painting a Harley

A friend at work has a HD that had a color he didn't agree with. He stripped the tins and I gave it a shot with Nason paints. Gave Black cherry a try using Horror Freight paint guns. Have about 70 bucks tied up in supplies. (I know the garage is a wreck. )

The original color with cleared over stick on stripes.

Sanded all the striping and decals off. Some primer and the beginning of some corrective body shaping.

Hung it up and hit it with Black cherry base. This was the second coat of four on the clear.

After the fourth coat.

The fenders came along too.

Gonna try some "custom" designs next. Really learn gun control painting round and odd shaped parts.

Is that orange peel on the vertical surfaces of the fender?

Nice color! Hard to avoid orange peel with the paints these days.

I like the color too. Was fairly easy to manage.

The sides were a prep issue. I failed to smooth the sides down thoroughly. The paint actually laid down fairly smooth everywhere else. This attempt is for needed practice as the "looks good enough" mentality on the prep gets checked.

Nice work. Congrats on tackling a job many people shy away from.

I thought it was against the law to repaint a Harley. Nice work man.

Ditto. Nice work though. The black cherry paint would have certainly shown any bodywork flaws!

The bike is assembled now. Thanks for the kind words.

Blacked out everything but some random chrome. Not bad for an old Police bike. Looking for before pics.
