Huntsman

The more I hear about this guy, the more I like about him.

"Gone are the days when the Republican Party used to put forward big, bold, visionary stuff," Huntsman said during the February interview with MSNBC that got him disinvited from the RNC fundraiser. "I think we're going to have problems politically until we get some sort of third-party movement or some alternative voice out there that can put forward new ideas."

Jon Huntsman Criticizes Republican Party, Compares Actions To Communist China

I have believed we needed a viable third party since before I was old enough to vote. Even spent some votes on impossible third party candidates just to try and strengthen the idea.

I'd vote for Huntsman in a heartbeat. A straight shooter that will do what is required to control spending.

Unfortunately, the public doesn't what that...........because the average person is a moron...........and hence the gradual decline of this country.

I always give you credit when I quote that phrase, especially during gabfests lamenting the collective stupidity of the "Booboisie" as H.L. Mencken referred to them.

The observation can easily be made by anyone with a shred of intelligence...........so, no need to credit me on that one.

The sad part of this whole affair is the fact that such people are running the government..........slowly, right into the ground.

Lately it seems, not so slowly.

I think the biggest problem to a third party is that moderates don't form them. Moderate Republicans and Democrats belong to parties that have been highjacked at varioius times by the fringes.

Count me among the morons because Huntsman's economic policy proposals would have been the second most important reason why I would have voted against him, the most important reason being the "R" after his name. His austerity proposals would have guaranteed a recession or worse.

He does seem like a straight shooter, although I wonder whether he really believed the economic theories he discussed during the primaries.

Remember, half the population is below average intelligence.

Or at least, the registered party members who get to select the two imbeciles the rest of us have to choose between on election day.

You continue to believe we can spend money that we don't have and that everything will eventually be OK.

It's absolutely clear to me and most other rational folks that this is not the truth and the government must reduce spending to match income.

We'll just have to disagree and let the chips fall where they may. But, understand clearly, that you only have yourself (and the current government who agrees with you) to blame when it all falls apart.

You must select a person who tries to appeal to everybody. Taking firm beliefs and standing up to do the right thing won't ever get you elected. Too many special interests will vote against you.

Check out Willard. He doesn't have a position on anything as far as I can determine. And, he's the nominee.

Edited as it is, IMHO more correctly expresses the state of affairs.

As long as the candidates of either side keep having to appeal to an extreme party base just to get the nomination, we'll keep getting progressively worse choices on the ballot come election day.

I wouldn't say it that way.

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree, but I believe that you are incorrect about what "most other rational folks" believe. My impression is that you are in the minority on this one, which does not mean that you are wrong.

I'd really be curious if I was in the minority if the polling was restricted to those with a modicum of intelligence and a vision that is beyond the next paycheck or the next super wide screen TV.

If you are suggesting that I'm in the minority of the general narcissistic population that requires absolute instant gratification at any future cost, I absolutely agree with you.

The fact that I'm in this very small minority as defined by the second paragraph is the exact problem faced by the country today.

Of all the runners from this last go around Huntsman is the one that's got his head the closest to being on straight.
Ide still have trouble voting for him.
