We'd have a double dip, but we'd survive, just as the world survived the split of the USSR.

The USSR was a basket case form the get go with almost no economic effect on the real world and it mattered not what happened to it. Europe is different and the US has far too much exposure to it to be merely slightly inconvenienced by a slight double dip.
