Another testament to Mercedes safety

Saw this in the local news. This is one nasty accident...CVPI vs a 190E, the P.O. has hip/pelvis injuries and the MB driver "no serious injuries". If there had been passengers, the MB looks like it would have been ok minus some leg injuries, CVPI would be gruesome. Good to know these cars are safe.

Hope both drivers have a quick recovery and that it wasn't a forum member.

No pictures of the 190. That sucks. I really do not like what happened to the passenger compartment on the cruiser.

There are pic's of the 190. And I'm impressed with it, especially in relation to the cruiser bearing in mind the size and weight differential between the two.

"Police cruiser caught fire..." can the Crown Vic be renamed to Ford Ronson or Ford Zippo? I thought this issue was fixed back in 2003 or so.

That issue was related to high-speed rear-end crashes.

OH crap. I did not see the other pictures had to be scrolled to. Wow. I don't think the damage on the MB will buff out.

As for the Mercedes, police say they are still trying to identify the driver who is hospitalized in critical condition.
Doesn't look so good...

Looks like they just updated the story, that's quite a change from the "no serious injuries" initially reported...hope they're ok.

the forces involved to have both cars look like that.... they both had to have been going 50-60 miles an hour..... that is a lot of force.

At least...thats one of those roads that has a 50-55mph speed limit, and since the cop was responding to a call chances are that he was going pretty fast. Looks like the cop swerved a bit and they collided kind of t-bone fashion with the mb head on and more toward the side of the cvpi. It's amazing that the mb held up as well as it did, though the driver was still injured.

Who wants to bet that the cops are lying, and it was the cop who swerved, not the Merc? Hope the dash camera didn't get toasted like the driver of the CVPI did.

Look at the impact point in picture 7. Seems pretty clear who crossed the line unless both vehicles got turned 180 degrees and ended up on opposite sides of the road that they originated on.

crossing the yellow line...not a good thing; probably wanking around on facebook while trying to steer. I'm seeing more and more erratic driving out there, some of these people should be walking, not driving.
