Abortion poll.

I read an article that implied that age was a factor in your stance. Wanted to see if it reflected beliefs here.

Edit: Perhaps I should qualify that this is a poll on whether you think it should be legal as opposed to your personal belief on abortion. I personally do not like abortion but I believe a woman has the absolute right to make that choice over her body and the fetus she carries.

Pro life means you are against abortion being legal
Pro Choice means you are in favor of abortion being legal.

I think in most or many cases people should not choose to abort. I am old enough to remember what it was like before abortion was legal. Rich folks could fly to another country to get one. Regular folks either had the baby and gave it up or lived with it. The girl across the street ( a very nice sweet girl) got pregnant when a sophomore by a caddish senior. She went off somewhere supposedly to a private school, had the baby, gave it up and came back for her senior year.

Poor mothers in the inner city if desparate not to have another got it done in the back alley with a coat hanger and many bled to death or got infected.

so while I think abortion is a bad idea I recognize there is a place for them and folks should have the choice.

IMHO it is between the lady, her clergy if she has one and her doctor. the government should have no part in the decision.

Boy, what a bunch of old farts around here....;)

In my experience, the younger generation seems to be more opposed to abortion than the generation which first insisted that women have reproductive rights. I attribute that fact to the massive propaganda campaign over the last 20 or 30 years against women's reproductive lives and the fact that since abortion has been legal ever since the younger generations have been born, they don't see the importance of thinking the issue thru as much.

For a second I wondered if you were polling about whether we have been aborted or not:) I once had a student whose mother told her she had almost aborted her due to serious health concerns. Upon learning of those circumstances, the child thought that the wiser decision for her mother would have been to abort her.

I've been pro-abortion since I first asked the question, "Who owns your body?"

Define "pro-choice" and "pro-life."

I agree with the pro-choice stance to a point, but I don't think access should be absolute -- i.e. killing a viable baby (third trimester) unless there's dire medical necessity basically amounts to murder and I can't condone it. I'm 32.

This view is basically in line with Roe v. Wade, but not completely pro-choice.

davidmash 05-12-2012 03:11 PM

Third trimester abortions are so rare as to be insignificant regarding a conversation regarding abortion in general.

I intended this poll as a question about abortion in general, not extreme cases regarding a third trimester abortion needed to save a mothers life or othre such rare occurrences.

spdrun 05-12-2012 03:19 PM

Fine, then count me in as pro choice.

Evidently Ignorance has no age limit. :)

Most here are fully aware of that. You have proven that fact on countless occasions.

I'm with this guy, and I'm 34.

I think a possibility for any greater opposition to legal abortion by younger people is that we don't remember what it was like when it wasn't legal. I notice so far in the poll everybody 60+ is pro-choice.

You once said that you despise everything that I stand for. That statement affirms to me that I am on the right path in life. What a sad life you must live. :D

I'm 28 and pro life.

You are a good Man. Stand by you're convictions and life will serve you well. Abortion is MURDER plain and simple.

You may be physically abusive to your significant other. You might be a thief, or attracted to little boys. You could be a substance abuser, a torturer of small animals, or maybe you belong to the Sinaloa Cartel and have a history of headless corpses in your past. As long as you are anti-choice, You're a GOOD man though, so nothing else matters. Stay the course and be of good cheer, nothing else matters.
