Lights out at CrazedList?
Popped on for a little coffee break browsing and got this:
![]() I know there are lots of Craig's List search engines out there, some better and less complicated than others. I can certainly just try some out and probably will, but what are some that have worked well for you? Is Search Tempest it?

Wowza. What happened there? I used that site frequently.

That's the one I use. It looks almost identical to the way crazedlist did.

On one of the alternate searching sites I saw mention about some changes now that CL no longer allows viewing in frames. Maybe a programming issue that they didn't deem viable?
I liked CrazedList because I could search particular areas rather than just a radius from a zipcode (plus the fact that I was comfortable with it). Thanks, J. I've been playing around with it a little bit. Seems like a fairly harmless transition.

The pricks at Fleabay who own CL are too stupid to implement a proper search. So they take legal action to take down any site that does. Must be jealousy or sheer cussedness.

i use search tempest with a lot of success. craigslist did change their code and none of the "search all" sites are working correctly, search tempest included. their page says it will be fixed soon.
craigslist is adamant about not being able to search them all at once, claiming something about local products movement or something. don't understand it myself as it seems better to be able to look all over for whatever it is that you want. speaking of, if you find a rust free manual volvo 240 wagon in your search, hit me up!

When you have many craigslists covering essentially the same area (NYC, N NJ Central NJ, Hudson, Jersey Shore) it becomes apparent how asinine that decision on CL's part was.

That really sucks mean dick. Remember jaxed site mash? The best Craigslist search engine ever! Shut down by the jealous Gnomesteins 6 months ago.
Why do they object to websites that f-in' facilitate using Craigslist?

Because they're owned by FleaBay, which is run by dirtbags.

I have a client who is way frustrated with Craigslist. He's an editor and has rigged up skype to edit people's work from all around the country, or at least in the 7 or 8 major markets he was advertising via CL in. He was skirting the rules with every angle possible - multiple accounts with separate phone numbers and e-mail addresses. He got flagged now and then but was getting steady work.
CL shut him down over night, they use IP addresses now to track where you're coming from - he's now limited to a 500 or so mile radius. Yes, it's true he was gaming the system. But what's frustrating is that CL gets most of the eyeballs these days, they've put everyone else out of business or on the ropes, and since it's free, he can't complain that he's not getting his money's worth. It's sort of a quasi tyranny by Craigslist. Quite a bit of power and very little accountability.
